decafaf sponsorship terms

Thanks for thinking about sponsoring decafaf. decafaf is an independent directory of decaf coffee beans (93 beans from 20 roasters right now), plus decaf guides, a blog and a weekly decaf deals newsletter. These terms are meant to be short, fair and easy to read. If anything is unclear, email us.
1. Where we are today
decafaf is new. The site's traffic is still growing and the newsletter has only just launched, so it has very few subscribers. Our launch prices reflect that. Rates will go up as traffic and subscribers grow. Before you book, we'll send you the current numbers (monthly site visitors, newsletter subscribers, open rate) so you know what you're paying for. Founding sponsors keep their rate for as long as they renew without a break (see §5).
2. What sponsors get
Site placements
- Featured listing: your decaf(s) pinned near the top of the directory and the matching "decaf by type" pages, with a "Sponsored" label and a highlighted card. The listing details (process, origin, roast, price, size) still come from your product page, like every other listing.
- "Sponsored by" slot: the sitewide sponsor bar on the home page, the directory and every bean page. It includes your name or logo, one short line, and one link. Only one sponsor holds this slot at a time.
- Logo: an SVG or PNG supplied by you, shown at a fixed size. We may resize it to fit the design.
- Links: every paid link uses
rel="sponsored"(withnoopener). We do not sell dofollow links. Paying for link equity breaks search engine guidelines and could hurt both of us. Free, editorial listings keep the plain product links they already have.
Newsletter placements (beehiiv)
- Primary slot: the top spot in one weekly issue, with your logo, a blurb of up to 60 words and one link. One primary sponsor per issue.
- Mention: a one-line text mention with a link, lower in the issue.
- We write or lightly edit the copy so it matches the newsletter's voice. You approve it before it goes out.
3. Launch pricing (USD)
| Package | Includes | Launch price |
|---|---|---|
| Featured Listing | Up to 3 of your decafs featured + "Sponsored" badge | $25 / month |
| Newsletter Mention | One-line mention in 1 issue | $15 / issue |
| Newsletter Primary | Top slot in 1 issue (logo, blurb, link) | $35 / issue, or 4 issues for $120 |
| Site Sponsor | Sitewide "Sponsored by" slot (home, directory, all bean pages) | $75 / month |
| Founding Partner | Site Sponsor + Featured Listing + 4 Newsletter Primary slots | $150 / month (normally about $220) |
- Prices don't include any taxes that apply.
- How rates will rise (guide): we plan to review prices at about 1,000 newsletter subscribers or 10,000 monthly site visitors, and again at 5,000 subscribers or 50,000 visitors. A newsletter primary slot will roughly follow the market rate of $15–$35 per 1,000 subscribers. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any price change, and a change never affects a period you've already paid for.
Context: published 2026 benchmarks put beehiiv lists under 1,000 subscribers at about $30–$100 per placement, with a median main slot of about $150 under 5,000 subscribers. Lifestyle and consumer niches usually price at the lower end. Our launch prices sit at or below that range on purpose, because the list is still close to zero.
4. Booking and payment
- Email [email protected] with the package and start date you want. We'll confirm availability and send an invoice.
- Payment is due upfront, before the placement goes live. Invoice sent by email; payment upfront by card or PayPal before your placement goes live. Newsletter slots may be booked through beehiiv's sponsorship tools.
- Newsletter slots are held for 7 days after we send the invoice. After that they're released.
5. Duration and renewal
- Monthly placements run for 30 days from the go-live date. Newsletter placements run in the issue(s) you booked.
- There is no auto-renewal unless you ask for it. About 7 days before the end, we'll email you to ask whether you'd like to renew.
- Founding sponsors who renew without a gap keep their launch rate for up to 12 months.
6. Content guidelines
We want sponsors our readers will be glad to hear about. - Relevant: decaf coffee and closely related products, such as decaf roasters, brewing gear, or low- or no-caffeine drinks. Other products are at our discretion. - Accurate: claims must be true and match your own product pages. That includes the decaf process (for example Swiss Water, CO₂ or sugarcane/EA), origin, organic or certification status, and caffeine content. - No health claims beyond the evidence. No medical claims, and nothing like "cures," "detox," or "safe for pregnancy" unless you have solid, citable support and the claim follows applicable law. "Chemical-free" or "99.9% caffeine-free" claims must be accurate and substantiated. - No misleading discounts, fake scarcity, or attacks on competitors. - We have the right to refuse or remove any sponsorship that doesn't fit these guidelines or our readers' interests. If we remove a placement for a reason that isn't your fault, we refund the unused portion.
7. Editorial independence
- Sponsorship never changes which beans we list, how we describe them, their ratings or ranking in non-sponsored views, or what we write in guides and the blog.
- Sponsors don't get to review or approve editorial content.
- Sponsoring doesn't stop us from listing competitors, or from noting price or availability changes for your products.
8. Disclosure (FTC)
- Every paid placement is clearly labeled "Sponsored" (on the site) or "Sponsored by" / "Sponsor" (in the newsletter).
- Paid site links use
rel="sponsored". - Our disclosure page explains how decafaf makes money, including affiliate links and sponsorships.
- Sponsors agree not to ask us to hide or soften these labels.
9. Cancellations and refunds
- Before go-live: cancel any time for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before a newsletter send may be moved to a later issue instead.
- Monthly site placements after go-live: if you cancel in the first 7 days, we refund the unused days. After that, the placement runs until the end of the paid period.
- Newsletter issues that have already been sent can't be refunded.
10. Make-goods
If we fail to deliver what you paid for, we'll make it right. For example: the site is down for more than 24 hours in total during your period, your slot is missing or broken, or an issue goes out without your placement. We'll extend your placement by the time lost or run your slot in the next available issue. If that doesn't work for you, we'll refund that portion. We don't guarantee traffic, opens or clicks, but we'll share the numbers we have (impressions where available, clicks, and newsletter opens).
11. Liability
- You confirm that you have the rights to the logos, images and claims you provide, and that your ads follow applicable law. You're responsible for your product and your claims.
- decafaf is provided "as is." Our total liability for any sponsorship is limited to the amount you paid for it. Neither of us is liable for indirect or lost-profit damages.
- Either of us can end a sponsorship by email if the other seriously breaches these terms. Refunds then follow §9 and §6.
12. Privacy
- We don't sell or share reader or subscriber personal data with sponsors. Reporting is aggregate only: impressions, clicks, opens.
- We may add UTM parameters to your links so we can both measure results.
- How we handle reader data is covered in our privacy policy. We keep sponsor contact and billing details only for running and invoicing the sponsorship.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. Changes don't apply to placements you've already paid for.
